Preaching, Teaching & Reaching in Jesus' Name

Dear friends,
Given the forecast for tomorrow, we are changing our plans. Instead of a drive-in Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m., we are inviting you to a ‘Zoom-in’ service instead – still at 6 p.m. A link to the Zoom was sent to all members’ emails at noon on Tuesday. You can find the service bulletin here.
This abbreviated service will include imposition of ashes and Holy Communion; the full recorded non-communion service will still be available on our website and youtube channel at 5 p.m. The Order of Service is here.
If you would like to participate in the Zoom-in service tomorrow, you may either pick up ashes and communion packets at the church from 4-6 p.m. today (2/16) or from 10-12 tomorrow (2/17). You may also choose to provide your own communion elements (bread or cracker/wine or grape juice) and ashes – burnt palms from last year or simple household dust will do. (If you need instructions on burning and preparing palm ash, please email pastor@gslc-cu.org.) (If you need to have ashes and communion sets dropped off for you, please contact Kara Greer at akgreer@comcast.net.)
Hope to see you online tomorrow for Ash Wednesday and the beginning of our Lenten journey together. Today – stay warm and safe and enjoy your pancakes/fastnachts/donuts/or whatever your Shrove Tuesday tradition might be.
In Christ,
Pastor Lynette Chapman
We want to share an exciting opportunity with you. Our ministry is partnering with ELCA World Hunger to raise funds for our work. With the spread of COVID-19 in the United States and around the world impacting how we address hunger in our communities, we need your support now more than ever. Will you make a donation to ELCA World Hunger today to support our congregation’s feeding ministry?
We aim to raise $500 or more for our ministry from friends and supporters such as you, to match the $500 Daily Bread Matching Grant we will receive from ELCA World Hunger, and only have a short time to do it. We have until Sunday, November 22nd to meet our goal. This will help our ministry serve our neighbors and truly provide daily bread.

Until all are fed,

Dear Friends,
In his letter of May 13, 2020, Bishop Roth states: “We will be renewing gathered worship, because simply reproducing the past is not an option.” Our Re-Opening Task Force has been working diligently to understand the ever-changing guidelines on the safest ways for us to re-open our building and renew gathered worship.
As we consider a variety of options we’d like to know your thoughts. Please click here to complete a short survey about worship preferences. If you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any member of the Task Force, or amy.chamley@gmail.com.
Many, many thanks to the members of our Re-Opening Task Force for their very important work:
Jim Hack, Nancy McCowen, John Hart, Marla Todd, Jenelle Keene, Greg Fisher, Mike Massey, Sam Fisher, Dan Corkery, Sandy Reifsteck and Ron Meyer.
Wash your hands, wear a mask, and keep praying!
Amy
